Happy end of 2017 everyone! It was an eventful year to say the least; lots of trips, a couple hurricanes, going back to school, changing careers, starting this blog, and even getting a new furry family member. My last adventure of 2017 was a family trip to Anna Maria Island, FL. Celebrating Christmas on the beach is quite an experience; swapping snow suits for swim suits, and white snow for white sand. The island, whose inhabitants are mostly families and retirees, isn’t quite designed for bar hopping or known for a poppin’ nightlife, but that did not stop us from exploring the local watering holes, which is where I discovered December 2017’s Bar of the Month – The Doctor’s Office. Christmas time is one of my favorite times of year. A month of festivities, glimmering lights, joyful decorations, family, sweet treats, delicious food, and most importantly COCKTAILS (which are admittedly my favorite part). Continue reading “Christmas Cocktails from Around the World”
October 2017 was an exciting month for me, not only because I love Halloween, but also because I got to visit a country high on my bucket list – Cuba. In 2014, after being off limits to Americans for 53 years, Cuba renewed ties with the US and opened its doors to Americans, and ever since then I have been just itching to go. So when Royal Caribbean emailed me a last minute deal to sail and stay in Havana Cuba I absolutely had to take it!
Havana is home to October’s Bar of the Month: Sloppy Joe’s
Cuba is known for its delicious rum and rich musical culture, but who knew that Havana was home to so many fun, and picturesque rooftop bars? I sure didn’t, but was pleasantly surprised when finding out just how much these Cuban bars have to offer.
Before taking my recent (October 2017) trip to Cuba, I honestly had no idea what to expect. While diving into the unknown is part of the thrill of traveling, I still like to be somewhat prepared for whatever I may encounter on my travels.
If you’ve read my post How to Drink like a Local in Jamaica, you’ll know that my trip to Jamaica was more than just sipping rum on the beach (there was beer too haha!) . Jamaica is home to some of the most beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear water, and lush waterfalls that I have ever laid eyes on. It is one of those places that truly takes your breath away.
Last month Shawn and I took a quick weekend trip to Cincinnati Ohio to check Great American Ballpark off our Ballpark Tour bucket list. We weren’t expecting Ohio to be very exciting (no offense Ohio-ians), but we were very pleasantly surprised! Continue reading “5 Must See Bars in Over-the-Rhine Cincinnati”
Last weekend Shawn and I visited Cincinnati to enjoy a Red’s game at Great American Ballpark, which we are now able to cross off our Ballpark tour list. We stayed in a perfect, cozy, AirBnb that was right in the center of the most up and coming neighborhood of Cincinnati – Over-the-Rhine – or OTR as the locals refers to it. OTR is a few blocks made up of hip and trendy new bars, restaurants, and shops. It was beautiful to explore during the day but even more so at night.
OTR is the home of September’s Bar of the Month: 16-Bit Bar+Arcade. Continue reading “September 2017’s Bar of the Month: 16-Bit Bar+Arcade”
These past two weeks have been beyond hectic; prepping and planning for Irma, evacuating, getting hit with the storm, and the heading home to pick up the pieces. We were lucky enough to have avoided any major damage, with only a few days of no power and 5 days with no cable and internet. During these, what felt like never ending days without power and internet, I found myself reflecting on this year’s travel adventures and what I am already planning for the years ahead.
This past weekend Shawn and I had a little adventure in Clearwater Beach. If you’ve never been to CWB, it’s an island that specializes in tourism off the west coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. The streets are filled with tall hotels, beach shops, and bars and restaurants as far as the eye can see, one of which I actually have the pleasure of calling my bartending home at the moment. However, I will tell you right now that not all of these bars and restaurants are created equal. Here are the 5 bars with the BEST views in Clearwater Beach (and trust me you will not be disappointed!).
